The lead for this mechanical lead is not your typical 0.5 or 0.7 lead, but instead a much thicker 2.2 lead. This special lead is perfect for writing in darker, bolder strokes. To sharpen the lead, simply press down the advance button and simultaneously pull the lead. Insert the individual lead piece into the built-in sharpener located at the base of the advance button and twist until you reach your desired sharpness.
